Victor A. Paludetto Magri is a computational mathematician in the Center for Applied Scientific Computing (CASC) and member of the following projects at LLNL:

  1. hypre - a numerical library of high performance solvers/preconditioners for solving large sparse linear systems. His work spans the three conceptual interfaces of hypre (structured, semi-structured and IJ), and he is mostly focused on the SSAMG, FSAI, MGR and BoomerAMG algorithms.
  2. GEOSX - a simulation software for modeling underground carbon storage and other multiphysics processes at the subsurface. He works on the linear solvers support through the hypre library, specifically looking at the use of the MGR and BoomerAMG algorithms.
  3. ComPRESS - a team effort towards Compression and Progressive Retrieval for Exascale Simulations and Sensors. He is working on a general software framework for enabling progressive data compression and retrieval in terms of precision. 

Victor earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in numerical analysis, at the University of Padua (Italy) in 2019. He also holds an M.S. and a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil) obtained in 2015 and 2013, respectively. His research interests are: multigrid methods, preconditioning techniques, subsurface flow, scientific data compression, and high performance computing.
