Dr. Jean Luca is a Research Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), where he specializes in optimizing data management for high-performance computing (HPC). His research helps scientists overcome data movement challenges, allowing them to focus on groundbreaking discoveries instead of I/O bottlenecks. He has authored multiple scientific publications in conferences, journals, and workshops. Jean Luca is a member of several technical program committees in HPC, I/O, and storage. He is also the SIGHPC Membership Coordinator, a member of the NERSC User Group Executive Committee (NUGEX), and a member of IO500, as well as co-founder of the SIGHPC Computing Continuum Chapter. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and was honored with first place in the Brazilian Computing Society’s Contest of Thesis and Dissertations in Computer Architecture and High-Performance Computing.
