David Barkai is a long-time HPC practitioner with over 35 years of experience. After receiving a Ph.D. in theoretical physics. David entered the field and has focused over his career on the relationships between applications/workloads and architecture. He worked for several HPC companies during their heydays – Control Data, Floating Point Systems, Cray Research, Supercomputing Systems Inc. — as well as a stint at NASA Ames. Most recently David worked at Intel for 15 years, for most of that time as one of its HPC experts. Even after retiring from Intel, David continued his contribution to HPC with a couple of years apiece at Cray and SGI. He now consults on computing technologies and applications.
