Alp Dener is a computational scientist at the Argonne National Laboratory where he develops large-scale continuous optimizations for a wide range of DOE applications. He is also a member of the core development team for PETSc/TAO and the principal maintainer for the Toolkit for Advanced Optimization (TAO) package. Prior to Argonne, he earned his Ph.D. in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2017 with a focus on multidisciplinary design optimization in commercial aircraftdesign. His research interests include PDE-constrained optimization, multi-physics coupling, scientific machine learning and reusable scientific software.
