David Gardner is a computational scientist in the Center for Applied Scientific Computing (CASC) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. His research focuses on the development, implementation, and deployment of numerical methods and software for accurate, robust, and efficient time integrators and nonlinear solvers for multi-scale, multi-physics simulations on high performance computing systems. David is a core developer of the SUNDIALS software library and has worked with a variety application teams in areas including materials science, Earth system modeling, combustion, cosmology, fusion, and additive manufacturing. He joined CASC in 2014 after completing his Ph.D. in Computational and Applied Mathematics at Southern Methodist University.
